To preserve and enhance the rule of law in El Dorado County by providing all persons a fair, efficient, and accessible forum for resolving disputes, protecting public safety, and righting wrongs.
A Message from the Presiding Judge
On behalf of the staff, commissioner and judges of the El Dorado County Superior Court, I want to welcome you to our website. Feel free to explore the links provided to obtain information about the many programs and services that we offer to court users. You will be able to access resources such as court rules and forms, fee information, employment opportunities and assistance for self represented litigants. We also provide location and contact information for each of our court locations.
The El Dorado County Superior Court is continually striving to improve our operations and to offer enhanced services to the public. For individuals who wish to pay traffic or criminal fines and fees without coming to the courthouse, online payments by credit card or electronic fund transfer may be made. Prospective jurors can check the status of their jury service obligations or request a postponement through our automated jury program, also available through our website. People who are representing themselves can obtain information about clinics and legal services that are available through our self help centers, which are located in both Placerville and South Lake Tahoe, and can obtain links to other legal websites and service providers. The website also offers detailed descriptions of the mediation services that the court offers in connection with family law and civil cases and describes the benefits that flow from participating in the court’s alternative dispute resolution programs.
Our Court is committed to providing excellent service. The judges and commissioners participate in a variety of outreach events each year including “Every 15 Minutes”, a driving under the influence awareness program offered in local high schools and “The Drug Store Project”, a drug awareness program offered at some of our local middle schools. Our court provides speakers for schools, service clubs and other organizations who are interested in learning about the court system and its role as the third branch of government. Additionally, in collaboration with our justice system partners, we offer a number of specialty courts such as our Proposition 36 Drug Court, Adult Felony Drug Court, Teen Court, Behavioral Health Court, DUI Court, Dependency Drug Court and Juvenile Drug Court. The goal of each of these collaborative courts is to reunify families, promote accountability and compliance with the law and to address underlying social or personal issues that play a role in bringing individuals and families into the legal system.
Thank you for taking the time to visit our website. It is our hope that the information we have provided will help answer any questions that you might have about our court and its programs. Should you have comments or suggestions about how we might improve our website, or have constructive ideas about new programs and services that the court should consider implementing, please email us email@example.com.
Suzanne N. Kingsbury,
El Dorado Superior Court
